Hi there! I’m Becky. Sometimes it feels like my identity is pretty much wrapped up in motherhood and kitchen floor crumbs, but I do have some other facets to my life as well.
I’m a Christian
Mom and Dad laid the foundation when I was a kid, then I made a renewed commitment to Jesus as a Junior in highschool through Young Life. As I plan my course in life, I rejoice that the Lord determines my steps (Proverbs 16:9).
I Homeschool
We have been homeschooling for five years now. We currently use an eclectic/textbook approach and we’re loving it. My son is in fifth grade, and my daughter is in third grade.
I Garden
I have a passion for feeding my family organic, healthy, whole foods. Gardening has been a fun extension of that desire. While it’s just a small raised bed garden, it still delights me to stroll out into my backyard and come back in with the makings for a salad or dinner in my hands.
I’m in the Kitchen A LOT
Whether I’m baking in it, cooking in it, or just cleaning it (remember those floor crumbs I mentioned?) I’m in the kitchen quite a bit. I like making things from scratch, menu planning, and I’m toying with the idea of getting into canning and preservation. Stay tuned on that one!
My Home is My Haven
As I mentioned, I homeschool, but not only that, my husband works from home, too. Since we’re all home a majority of the time, it’s important for me to make our home a cozy, welcoming place to be. This tends to bring out the crafter in me – I love decorating and scrapbooking. I’m also trying to reduce the chemicals and waste in our home by taking baby steps to greener living.
Our Family
I have two darling kiddos, a daughter born in 2003 and a son born in 2001. I’ve been married to my supportive, loving husband for 17 years. We had a fish named Trixie, but she swam on to greater waters. Not long after, we welcomed Ricky the Cricket. He was not long for this world, either. We recently adopted Fluffy the cat, and his exploits are included throughout this blog occasionally.
Thanks for visiting! I hope you enjoy your stay!
Dear Becky, Your blog is one of my favorites, and I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award. Congratulations! http://bringingeuropehome.com/2012/04/09/playing-favoritesbeing-versatile/
Thank you so much, Robin! I really appreciate you thinking of me!
Hi Becky, I have nominated you for a Sunshine Award. Your blog certainly brings sunshine into my life. Not much to it. Just go to my post, copy the image, say five things about yourself and nominate others. As you have done this for the versatile blogger award I would say you are pretty much off the hook regarding those requirements. Sincerely, Sue

Becky, this site looks amazing! I’m not much of a garden-lover, but my wife has been changing me over the years. And, since my wife just got a full time job, I’m doing more of the cooking. I’ll be visiting your site for the easier recipes to see if this cooking healthy thing can catch on with me. Thanks.
Thanks so much for dropping by and commenting, Dave! And what a nice compliment! I hope my little blog has an opportunity to inspire you!
