I have five girls. We had my oldest daughter’s bat mitzvah last year and it seemed that just a few months later, it was gone. I look at those pictures and she looks like a child and it was almost as if we had held on to those very last seconds of her childhood.
I love this! It’s so sentimental…. sweet and just a little bit heartbreaking, My littlest looks most similar to the left picture right now but I know that before I know it she’ll turn into something more like the right picture. That’s the heartbreaking part. Not that those later stages aren’t wonderful too; but I do love the cuddly little toddler stage. You know what I mean…
I know exactly what you mean, Jessica. The older kid stage is very fun, too, though…more fun in some ways, in fact. They can do so much more with you (long hikes, road trips, bike rides, etc) and their sense of humor is developing and maturing which is always fun. But when I revisit these photos of their toddler-hood, I can’t help but get a little misty. 🙂
